San Diego, CA (For Release) - Best selling author Barry Spilchuk, author of A Cup of Chicken Soup for the Soul, joins host David Kamatoy on a new episode of The DavidKamatoy.com Show. An entrepreneur, entertainer, and email marketing veteran, David Kamatoy brings decades of experience in a wide variety of fields, including tv/radio production, business development, and juggling. His show examines the intersection of business, entertainment, and marketing and can be found on multiple platforms. For David, it was an honor and pleasure to have long-time personal development colleague Barry Spilchuk on one of his first episodes.
 
Often called the “Dale Carnegie of Canada,” Barry Spilchuk has spent the better part of three decades following in the personal development footsteps of his mentor Jack Canfield. On the show, Barry relates how he came to write what was then the seventh book in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. A Cup of Chicken Soup for the Soul sold over one million copies and helped launch the expansion of the franchise to include authors from outside Canfield’s immediate organization.
 
During the interview, Barry shares with David his two business strategy keys: “Love” and “Truth.” “Love is the number one business strategy,” he explains. You have to love what you do and why you do it. Just as important, you need to be willing to speak the truth, even if it is not what someone wants to hear - whether that is about a project, an opinion, or yourself. 
 
Barry relates how he originally suggested the original Chicken Soup book could be “shrunk” down into a “cup,” and how Canfield then gave the task to him. When Barry showed the first draft to Canfield, he was told that it wasn’t up to the standards of the previous books and needed to be rewritten. “When your mentor has the guts to tell you, ‘This isn’t good enough,’ it can be devastating. Rather than give up, Barry hunkered down and created what would become the best-selling A Cup of Chicken Soup for the Soup.
 
“Next to love, truth is the next key in business we have to have,” Barry explains to David in the interview. “We have to have the truth to tell people, ‘This is my vision, and no, I’m sorry, that doesn’t fit my vision.’” This then becomes a guiding principle in all you do and what you are. “Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself and tell the truth about who you are, what you’re doing, and why you’re doing it.”
